Built as a summer residence for the King of Afghanistan Abdul Rahman Khan (1880-1901) – graceful, many domed palace glimmers on top of a hill to the north of Kabul city. The Palace set with a huge swimming pool and surrounded by pine trees, it was recently being beautifully restored as a Foreign Ministry Guest House for foreign dignitaries.

The Emir was spending summer time in the palace (1880-1901) and he died there. It was used as the kingdom palace when the current day Presidential Palace was not built.

The palace is now Kabul’s most attractive restaurant and hotel. The stucco and mirror-studded decoration – inside the palace – represents the original. The terrace provides a spectacular 360 degree view of the Kabul Valley.

The palace now serves as a restaurant and hotel with 14 deluxe bedrooms and has 300 seating for guests in its dazzling fine dining hall. Within its 7 acre walled boundaries, a soothing multiple garden spaces are available for casual and family-style dining around the palace or for various events like business seminars, including the terrace on first floor and at the rooftop and outdoor swimming pool.

With three layers of round the clock security, the palace and restaurant compound and surrounding area is fortified by vetted national police and armed guards provided by the Ministry of Interior to protect guests and their assets at all times. Within the palace building, comprehensive security services are in place including motion detection surveillance and CCTV cameras operate in full form.
