Wandering through the various scenes of Chak District, Khawat Valley, of Wardak Province, it becomes immediately evident that the valley reflects both Afghans and ancient Vardika culture. Chak’s eye-catching valley situated at a height of 2,400 meter – densely populated fertile valley – located about 65 Km south-west of Kabul.

The inhabitants – Wardaks – were host of an estimated 20,000,000 Afghans – particularly women and children – all for free over a decade period of Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan. Afghans moved from the north towards the south through Wardak valleys. Some sought refuge in Pakistan, while others returned to fight for freedom. Brightness and hospitality are the key features of these valleys inhabitants as in whole Wardak region there was intentionally no single restaurant to sell food, instead all passengers were warmly welcomed and accommodated at homes at large. Amazingly, during a decade period of time and thereafter, neither a single body was not looted nor any local installation attacked at all.

What to expect

Once you get there you will feel that the only place you could ever call ‘peaceful’ is Chak among the abundant water and electric supplies and a mild mountainous climate further added to the suitability of the place to be seen (must seen).

Hydro-electric Power Station built by Siemens in 1938-42 and still! alive and functioning.

German-funded Chak Hospital located on the shores of small lake in the immediate vicinity uphill of the hospital called “Green Village”. Started in 1989 as a first aid centre; now functioning as Provincial Hospital with 60 beds in site. Chak Hospital provides health care to almost half a million populations, at present.

This province is known for its old neighborhoods. Among these neighborhoods are the battlefields of Shah Qalandar Baba mountain, Chehl Dokhtaran village, Bom, and Dashtaka. You will also visit Band Caves Comples, Band hotel, historical gate of India brought by the Emperor Ahmad Shah Abdali, Tangi Sayedan, Babak infiedels’ castle, Daymirdad village and water lake (Wardak/Malestan) and more.
